United Service Organizations

December 27, 2021 | AFCEA

The United Service Organizations (USO) is a nonprofit, charitable corporation chartered by Congress, sustained by the charitable contributions of millions of generous Americans to let our troops know they're cared about and valued. The USO was founded in 1941 by Mary Ingraham in response to a request from President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide morale and recreation services to U.S. uniformed military personnel. The USO’s mission strengthens America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home, and country throughout their service to the nation.

For military service members traveling through Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport this past Monday December 20th, a special treat was waiting for them in the United Service Organizations (USO) Lounge, as volunteers were on-hand to serve up a hot meal with a side of holiday cheer. For our President and CEO Patricia Giesler this is her favorite event of the year. Patricia volunteers through the AFCEA Atlanta Chapter to support the troops during the Christmas season and is on the Board of Directors.

Sharing Joy and Cheer not only blesses those who receive it, but those who give it.
