Job Description:

We are seeking a Network Support Specialist to join our growing team for an upcoming IT/Cyber Security contract based out of Bahrain. The position is contingent upon contract award.

As the Network Support Specialist (Terrestrial and Long-Haul/RF), you will provide subject matter expertise to NAVCENT N6 in support of unclassified, classified and SCI network hardware (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Media Converters), configure / troubleshoot cryptographic devices (e.g., KG-175, KG-250, KG-250X KG-175D, and KV7/SV-7) to include carrying and managing cryptographic keying material (keymat) and associated devices as needed during travel and while at the assigned work locations, conduct device scanning / patching / updating / remediation for all network devices and support the Inside plant for NSA Bahrain Building 260 and various other Government-owned buildings on NSA Bahrain or outlying annexes, including the movement of data boxes and troubleshooting / repair of fiber optic and copper cable infrastructure for network classifications ranging from UNCLASSIFIED to SCI.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot NAVCENT network hardware (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Media Converters) and cryptographic devices

  • Provide network device scanning / patching / updating / remediation for all network devices

  • Provide monitoring, management, installation, upgrading, troubleshooting, and administration of the Government’s mobile communications / fly-away kits and OC12 devices and underlying infrastructure

  • Support Terrestrial circuits – Several leased-line commercial circuits provide data connectivity between NSA Bahrain and Isa Air Base. This footprint includes several Optical Carrier 12 (OC12) transport routers and layer-two/three data switches at Isa Air Base

  • Support and maintain 8 PACSTAR 400/4500 communications suites and (2) DISN Enterprise Classified Travel Kit Gateway (DECTK-GW) Secure Flyaway Kits (SFK)

 

Material & Equipment Directly Used:

  • Navy classified and unclassified C4ISR computer systems and ONE-NET

 

Working Environment:

  • Candidate will work primarily in computer facilities at Naval commands in an office or computer equipment room environment

  • Work outside of normal work week hours will be required to participate in meetings, troubleshooting efforts, and installations or upgrades

 

Physical Activities:

  • Personnel may be required to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time

  • Individual must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection of installed computer and network equipment

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Pre-employment drug screening

  • Active DoD TS/SCI Security Clearance

  • IAT Level II Certification (per DoD Inst 8750.1 and Navy guidance) required. CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND or SSCP with IA and CE required

  • 5+ years’ experience with Navy or DoD Networks (SIPRNET, NIPRNET, SCI)

  • 5+ years’ experience with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Media Converters

  • 5+ years’ experience Optical Carrier 12 (OC12) transport routers and layer-two / three data switches

  • 5+ years’ experience with Managing and transporting cryptographic equipment and keying material

  • Configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Media Converters) and cryptographic devices

  • Conducting network device scanning / patching / updating and remediation

  • Provide monitoring, management, installation, upgrading, troubleshooting, and administration of the Government’s mobile communications / fly-away kits and OC12 devices and underlying infrastructure

  • Knowledge of military C2 architectures

  • Must be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with senior Navy / DoD officials and technical personnel

  • Candidate must be able to provide training as needed

Required Education:

  • BS in Information Technology (or equivalent technical degree) or 5+ years technical experience in related discipline required
