Love In Action
The Agape Home, a place for babies and children living with HIV/AIDS, in Chiang Mai, Thailand is a place of constant activity and vibrant energy. From celebrating the Thai New Year with the Songkran Festival to welcoming 32 new children in April, the home is always bustling with excitement and joy. But amidst all the commotion, there are stories of love, dedication, and hope that truly make Agape Home a special place.
One such story is of two ladies from Australia who have been visiting Agape Home every Thai summer break for the past 15 years. These kind-hearted souls dedicate countless hours doing crafts and activities with the children, providing invaluable help to the nannies during long summer days. Their unwavering commitment and love for the children are deeply appreciated by the Agape community.
Early April Avis Rideout, Founder & Director of Agape Home, saw the fulfillment of her long-standing dream. An Australian team came to paint the newly remodeled swimming pool fence, which had been installed nearly 10 years ago! The fresh, vibrant colors bring so much joy and blessing to the home, and it was a sweet reminder that dreams can come true, no matter how long we wait.
One of the most difficult and greatest joys for the Agape family is seeing their children adopted into loving families around the world. On April 28th, a 9-year-old boy who had been with Agape since he was 8 months old got to meet his new family and begin a new chapter of his life in Italy. It is inspiring to see that the love and care provided by Agape Home not only helps children overcome their difficult circumstances but also creates opportunities for them to find forever homes.
As the Agape family continues to grow, so do their needs. With the arrival of 32 new children, there is an immediate need for uniforms as school is starting soon. While the need is great, Momma Avis (as she is affectionately called by all) made a promise a long time ago to never let that get in the way of helping a child.
Agape Home celebrated their anniversary this May 3rd and Avis looks back on the past 27 years with gratitude and praise for the way that their Heavenly Father has taken care of every life. Despite the challenges and struggles they face; the Agape family remains faithful in their mission to save and transform the lives of these children. Their unwavering dedication and love for the children continue to inspire us all.
